Danspace Project Platform 2014: Diary of an Image by DD Dorvillier emerged as Dorvillier’s response to an invitation by Judy Hussie-Taylor, Danspace Project Executive Director, to create a platform which would open up new perspectives on her work, history, and artistic practices. The platform sought to examine definitions of dance presentation and artist and institutional collaboration, and opened up possibilities for new ways of making histories together.

Curated by Dorvillier in collaboration with Jenn Joy, the platform included two new works by Dorvillier and collaborators: A catalogue of steps and Diary of an Image, as well as a series of Solo Events with performances by artists who have impacted Dorvillier's work and history such as: Walter Dundervill, Heather Kravas, Jennifer Lacey, Jennifer Monson, Zeena Parkins, Sébastien Roux, and Elizabeth Ward, and the three original dancers from A catalogue of steps: Katerina Andreou, Oren Barnoy, and Nibia Pastrana Santiago. There were several opportunities for audiences to experience conversations between the artists during post-performance situations. A special Conversation Without Walls: French Feminisms, curated by Judy Hussie-Taylor and Jenn Joy, looked at choreographic practices from an international feminist perspective.

Diary of an Image (the book) is the resulting catalogue for the platform, co-edited by Jenn Joy and DD Dorvillier, designed by Fanette Mellier, and published by Danspace Project. The book includes images and texts by Dorvillier, Joy, and a variety of scholars and artists who have been previous collaborators or who are familiar with her works.
